Wifi in your holiday home, why have it?

Many of us have Wi-Fi at home and make use of the internet whilst on the move using a variety of mobile devices. As smartphone and tablet ownership has increased over the last few years so has the expectation of being able to connect to the web whilst away from the comfort of our own home.

For many holidaymakers the provision of Wi-Fi is a must have when choosing a property, and it’s not just for checking the weather forecast whilst on holiday, so here are some reasons why wi-fi is so important to them…

Local area information: Guests are likely to be unfamiliar with the local area and internet access will allow them to find the facilities they will need in the local area.

Where to go: Access to the internet can expand the guests understanding of family attractions, historical and heritage sites & activities in the area, they are able to check on timings and closures.

Events: You’ve seen an event advertised and plan a day around that event, there is nothing worse than arriving at the event to find it has finished or was cancelled. Wi-fi access will allow the guest to check the timings and cancellations before planning their day around the event.

Eating out: Whilst your guest will want to make good use of your property they will also want to go out once or twice whilst on holiday. Searching for a recommendation on a pub or restaurant, reading reviews and looking at the menus before making a reservation can’t be done unless they have access to the internet.

Work: a necessary evil or a way to generate more bookings, allowing guests to actually take a holiday whilst still being able to keep in touch with the office.

Weather: Guests can plan to make the most of their time on holiday.

Watching catch-up TV: Visitors do watch TV on holiday, so streaming their favourite programs on their iPad is no bad thing.

The attribute of Wi-Fi is fourth on the visitors list of “Must Haves” when filtering through their shortlist of possible properties. You may be put off installing Wi-Fi due to the connection, sheer choice on the market and time in dealing with setting it up.
