Why we are in the Granite-age
In this ever-changing world in which we live in; a time of political upheaval, technological breakthroughs and increasing social unrest, life can seem extremely overwhelming and the world can be seen to be changing far too quick for the tastes of some. But there is one thing that will never go out of fashion and that is your granite worktop.
This beautiful natural stone has been utilised for thousands of years for building, gravestones and many other purposes. But over the last 30 years there has been a massive boom in granite being used for worktops and in 2018, something that used to be seen as a bohemian luxury is now an entirely realistic option for many home-owners.
Part of the reason for this is, unlike in the past, where the market was dominated by Italian granite, it is now sourced from all over the world. The globalised world and the entry to the market of granite from India, Brazil, China among many others has driven down prices as well as giving the consumer a quarry-load of choice. When you think of granite, images of dour, grey gravestones may come to mind, but now there are vibrant green, autumnal browns and peachy pink granites to get your teeth into.
Another reason why a granite worktop is now within reach of you and I is because it is now much easier to shape and fabricate granite. Technological innovation has meant that what was previously done by hand can now be done with increased speed and efficiency by a machine, without compromising the care and attention that goes into the finished product.
So what are you waiting for? Not only is a granite worktop never going to go out of fashion, but it is a statement in itself. A kitchen finished off by a bespoke granite worktop will provide the cherry on top and leave your guests gushing over your new kitchen.
